Christina Walters, Psy.D. was born in New York City, but grew up in Mexico City. This experience shaped her worldview. Many of the inhabitants of Mexico City were economically disadvantaged. Seeing the impact on other children and their families, Chistina was inspired to help. As a youth, her passion for helping others manifested through her volunteer efforts with many organizations in Mexico. In particular, she loved coordinating the Special Olympics program for underserved Mexican children.

In addition to forming a deep connection with the people in Mexico City, she benefited from learning their culture and language. This has been part of what allows her to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

Christina moved back to the United States for college. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Economics from Brown University. Her commitment to volunteer work continued throughout her education. Passionate about helping others, she engaged in extensive volunteer work, including tutoring and community gardening.

Christina completed her Masters in Psychological Services from University of Pennsylvania. During this time, she began working with disadvantaged children and adolescents in Philadelphia. While completing her doctorate program, she continued working primarily with youths in different treatment settings, including residential facilities, partial hospitals and outpatient settings.

In 2010, Christina graduated with a Doctorate in Psychology from Immaculata University.  Her thesis was entitled “An Exploration of the Factors Influencing Engagement of Families in Inpatient Programs for Depressed Adolescents.”  The research required for this doctoral work enabled her to develop an expertise in the complicated way that family dynamics, therapy, and mental health intersect. Due to this experience, she has a unique ability to identify and effectively address those issues which affect younger family members within a family in crisis. She has a particular focus on working with families in conflict settings, including divorce.

After obtaining her doctoral degree, Christina’s focus shifted to one-on-one clinical work.  For the past 15 years, Christina has worked directly with clients with traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, depression, and grief.  She has continued to work with clients in the midst of family strife, including divorce, relocation, life adjustments, and custody disputes. Her clients appreciate her compassionate approach and desire to help. She has also developed an expertise in conducting neuro-psychological evaluations and psychoeducational assessments.

In 2017, Christina founded Walters Psychological in Howell, New Jersey.

In 2024, the practice changed its name to Arch Psychological Therapy & Evaluations to more accurately reflect its purpose, team approach and broad array of services.  The team of therapists at Arch Psychological provide testing, individual therapy and group therapy to individuals, couples, and families across New Jersey.

Christina is a devoted travel baseball mom.  She resides in Millstone, New Jersey with her husband, three children and three dogs.  She loves spending time with her family and using her Italian Mom’s recipes to cook for her family and friends.
