Christopher Nelson is a dedicated Licensed Social Worker on the cusp of obtaining his clinical license, bringing a wealth of community outreach and counseling experience to his psychotherapy practice. He specializes in helping individuals navigate the myriad challenges of life, with particular expertise in treating substance abuse and co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety. Christopher also addresses issues including anger management, parenting skills, life transitions, grief, relationship challenges, and goal setting.  

As an Air Force veteran, Christopher has a deep understanding of the unique pressures faced by military personnel and their families, ranging from the impacts of extended deployments to the complexities of reintegration into civilian life. This background informs his empathetic, tailored approach to counseling veterans and their families.  

Christopher’s academic journey includes an Associate degree in Education with a concentration in Special Education, followed by a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Georgian Court University. During his undergraduate studies, he completed internships with New Hope and Preferred Behavioral Health. He later earned his Master’s in Social Work with a specialization in Clinical Social Work from Rutgers University, where he was also inducted into the Phi Alpha National Honor Society for Social Work.  

In his practice, Christopher fosters a judgment-free environment, utilizing therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness principles. His approach is person-centered and solution-focused, aimed at collaborating with clients to develop effective strategies for achieving wellness goals and fostering long-term resilience.
